First teaching practicum

Wednesday, February 8th, 2017.

Today, I developed my first teaching practicum in Intermediate II; At the beginning, as it is normal, I was nervous; that´s why, I had problems to pronounce the word " participle", and I repeated more than twice. Then I developed the warm-up , and I think students liked the activity because they had fun. Then, I taught them vocabulary, and I developed a listening in order to use that vocabulary; I liked that students did well in this listening because when I checked the answers, they answered me perfect. Then, I continued  with a short conversation that I had prepared in order to present the topic; I made students to practice the conversation, and when I asked for volunteers, they participated. Later, I explained the topic which was "will be able to".  I consider that students understood me even though I explained so quickly, and the mentor suggested me (in the feedback) to explain slowly. I think I did quickly because I was checking the time, and I though I wasn´t able to cover all the activities, and I actually I didn´t because I planned many activities that at the end, I didn´t have time for the wrap-up, so I can say that for the next class I shouldn´t plan many activities. The last two activitities that I developed in the class were the following:
-Fill in the blanks which was very easy for the students because I just had to correct one sentence.
- Dialogue. I asked students to create a short dialogue using the structure studied. They did it perfect.
From this practice I learnt that every time that I check the work of the students I have to recheck it, also when monitoring students, I have to encourage them to work because in this class some students were not working, and I realized it, but I did not encourage them. And something that I have to keep is my level of enthusiasm; this was what the mentor suggested me.
