Second Teaching Practice

Wednesday, February 15 th, 2017.

I came to the classroom at 6: 30 , and just two students were there, so I started writing the date, objectives and the agenda. Then, the others students arrived, and I started the class at 6:45 by the developing the warm-up.

When I was developing the warm-up, two students arrived, and they were isolated, so I asked them to work in each  one of the group. Then, I gave them a sheet of paper where they had to read a short conversation in order to introduce the topic, which was Causative verbs.

Actually, when the teacher told me that I was going to teach causative verbs, I was scared because this was one of the most difficult topic to understand when I was in Intermediate II, but I didn´t say anything to the teacher because I knew that I had to teach it. I got ready to teach this topic; I created two posters, and I explained to the students. I tried to be short in the explanation because I thought that if I talk too much, I am going to lose them, so I provided some examples to the students, as well, I asked them to provide me some examples, but they were not able to do it, so I explained again.

In the practice stage, I provided them another example in order that they understand better, so when I checked the exercises, I did it in an open class, and I could realize that most of the students were able to do the exercises perfectly. In the other practice, while I was monitoring, I could see that some students were writing some verbs in past ( and the verbs had to be written in present), so when I checked the exercises, I asked them which was the correct form of the verbs, and some of them answered correctly, so the students who wrote the verbs in a wrong way changed it.

By the end of the class, I asked students to create sentences using the structure studied, and when I was monitoring, I could see four students who did them perfectly, so when I asked students to share the sentences, I just asked the four ones to do it because the others students had not finished yet, and the time was over.
