First Teaching Practice

First Teaching Practice

I arrived to the classroom at 6:20 a.m because I needed to get all the material ready; by that time, just two students were over there, so I wrote the date, the objective and the agenda; When it was 6:40, I was ready, but the teacher had not come yet. When the teacher came, he asked to wait some minuets more for more students because of the traffic some student come a little bit late, so at 6:50 the teachers started to greet the students, and he introduced me; then, I greeted them, and I introduced myself, also. After that I gave them a piece of paper in order to they write their names and stick them in their chest which was great to learn their names.

After that I gave them the directions for the warm-up; then, I CCQ for understanding, so we develop the Fruit Salad in which students had fun.

After almost 10 minutes in this activity, I asked them to finish and to set down near of the board, so I started explaining grammar because the teacher previously told me that he had already introduced that topic; that´s why after the warm-up, I moved on to the grammar phase.
And the topic was The subjunctive mood; as I had prepared some charts, I pasted on the board; after the explanation I asked them if they had any question, and as they always say no, so I wrote two sentences on the board, I asked them for volunteers to finish the sentences; two students did it.

When I considered that they had understood the topic, I moved on to the exercises; in the first exercise, I explained them what they had to do; also, in the sheet of paper was an example of the exercise; as the exercise was easy, they were able to do it perfectly, and when I asked for volunteers to share the sentences, they wanted to participate, and I liked that they were like that.

Moreover, when I provided the second exercise, I forgot the tell them what to do; just I asked them to read the directions and told them that they had 6 minutes to finish; when I could see that everybody had finished, I started to check it, and I could notice that they had troubles in just one sentence, so I corrected it.

And to finish the class, I developed the activity " Tell me a secret". I gave them the directions; then, I asked them for understanding, so they easily moved to be ready for the activity; then, we started. They had fun with this activity, and the sentences that I they had to whisper were sentences using the Subjunctive mood. I really liked the class because the students participated a lot.
