Third Practice

Tuesday February 21st, 2017.

I started the class at 6:49 because in the classroom weren´t all the students, so the teacher told me to wait for more students, and after some minutes I started the class, so I greeted them; Then, I gave them the directions for the warm-up which was called “Causative Verb”. After I made them do a circle with their desks, I named them by  a causative verb, and when they hear their verb the had to change desk, and when I said causative verbs, everybody had to change desk. This was a nice warm-up, and I could notice that they really enjoyed it; and something important that happened is that since the mentor told me in the previous classes that I had to be clearer when giving directions, so I tried my best doing it, and I could notice that this time, students got my point easily.

After that, as the teacher told me not to each grammar, I just explained them how to transform the sentences in causative verbs into negative form which was so easy; that´s why, I did not take too much time doing it, but I provided them some examples, and as soon as I noticed they had understood, I moved on to the practice phase which took around 20 minutes because there were two different exercises; in the first one, they had to transform the sentences into negative form, and in the second one, they had to choose the best option of causative verbs.

When I checked the exercises, I did it in an open class, so the students who made mistakes in the exercises could rechecked them; I realized that they made some mistakes, but most of them had done a good job.

As my objective was to develop a Role-play by the end of the class using causative verbs, I made them work in pairs, and I gave them the directions for doing the Role-play. After some minutes, I made a raffle for the students who had to perform the Role-play, and because of the time, just two pairs could do it, and by the way, the Role-plays were so funny, and the students were able to use causative verbs. At the end, I tried to correct some mistakes that they did it during the Role-play; also, I thanked them for the participation during the three classes.

I like that you include differente kind of activities what made your class funnier and more interactive. To use a role play is always a good idea since english class in and space not only to learn a new language but also to develop as much skill as possible. Good job..... Keep it up.
